Devil’s Claw is native to the southern regions of Africa and gets its name from the hooks which cover its fruit. It has been traditionally used by tribal African peoples and more recently by Europeans and North Americans. Devil’s Claw is abundant in naturally occurring bioactive compounds including harpagoside, phytosterols, phenolic acids and flavonoids (kaempferol).
